Athletics Canada names IAAF World Cross Country Championship TeamFriday, February 25, 2011 OTTAWA - Athletics Canada announced today a contingent of 18 athletes who will represent Canada in Punta Umbria, Spain at the World Cross Country Championship. The championship takes place March 20 on a 2-kilometre circuit over well maintained ground and through Huelva, Punta Umbria’s beautiful pine forests. Both Canadian junior teams qualified for Worlds by winning team titles at last weekend’s NACAC Cross Country Championships; the senior men’s team also qualified by finishing in second. Toronto, ON’s Kate Harrison qualified as an individual runner in the senior women’s race having captured gold in the 6km run at NACAC. 2011 World Championship Team
